The information in this guide reflects our best research, but we strongly recommend double-checking hours and reservations through the Xcaret App and with Kristen before and during your stay. Things can change — staying in the loop will make sure nothing catches you off guard.

What to wear & when

Dress Code Guide

This is not a flip-flops-everywhere resort at night. Plan your wardrobe accordingly — especially men. Lance learned this firsthand: more dress pants and closed-toe shoes are essential for evening dining here.

Level 1 · Casual

Beach Casual

  • Men: Shorts, polo or casual shirt, sandals or sneakers
  • Women: Sundress, casual pants, blouse, sandals
  • No wet swimwear — cover-up required at all restaurants
Level 2 · Smart Casual

Smart Casual

  • Men: Neat trousers or chinos, collared shirt, closed-toe shoes required — no sandals
  • Women: Dress, blouse + trousers, elegant sandals fine
  • No athletic wear, no torn or distressed clothing
Level 3 · Resort Elegant

Resort Elegant

  • Men: Dress trousers (required), collared shirt or polo, closed-toe shoes required
  • Women: Evening dress, elegant blouse with skirt, sandals or heels
  • No shorts, no athletic wear, no open-toe shoes for men
  • Applies to: HA' Restaurant · Wedding Ceremony
⚠️ Critical for men: Pack a minimum of 2 pairs of closed-toe dress shoes. This is not optional — several restaurants require them and you will be turned away without them. Closed-toe means fully covered toe — not sandals of any kind.

Separately, we also recommend bringing 1–2 pairs of nice leather sandals. They are perfectly appropriate for Beach Casual restaurants and general resort wear — but they do not count as your closed-toe shoes and are in addition to them, not instead of them.

💒 Wedding Ceremony — June 6: The wedding palette is bright and vibrant — bridesmaids will wear turquoise and we encourage all guests to wear bright, bold colors! Tropical formal or cocktail attire. Be seated by 4:45 PM.
Look great without breaking the bank

Resort Wear Guide

Resort wear does not have to break the bank. Lance and Cherie have found great strategies for getting everything you need — including backup sizes — without overspending. Here is exactly how they shop for trips like this.

Search Terms — Men
"men's resort wear"
"men's guayabera shirt"
"men's linen shirt"

"men's linen pants"
"men's beach wedding outfit"

Shein
shein.com · Our #1 Recommendation for Value
Lance and Cherie's go-to for resort wear. Maximum selection at lowest prices.
1. Always Check the Size Guide
Shein ships from China and sizing runs differently than US sizes. Do not guess your size. Open the size guide on every single item, measure yourself, and choose based on the actual measurements — not the label size.
2. Order Two Sizes of Everything
Order the size you think you are AND one size up. More money upfront but it protects you from last-minute reordering when shipping time has run out. Try both when they arrive, keep what fits, return the rest.
3. One Return Per Order
Critical rule. Shein allows only one return per order. Wait for every single item to arrive, try everything on, make all your decisions at once, then do ONE return shipment with everything going back together. Send anything back early and you lose your return on the remaining items.
4. Keep Everything in Its Original Bag
Keep every item with its correct original bag until you are 100% sure you are keeping it. Once you've decided to keep something, you can discard the bag. If you're returning it, it must go back in the original bag — so don't throw any bags away until every final decision has been made.
5. Order at Least 6 Weeks Before
Shein ships from China. Order no later than May 1st for the June 6th wedding. If something does not fit and you need to reorder, you need that buffer. Earlier is always better.
6. Great for Shoes Too
Especially shoes you will only wear once or twice. Same size guide rule applies — always measure and check the chart.
Amazon
amazon.com · Fast Prime Shipping · Easy Returns
Best for ordering closer to the date. Search the same terms listed above. Read reviews carefully and always check the size chart. Great for linen shirts, casual pants, sandals, and swim cover-ups.
Target
target.com — Strong resort wear section especially for women. Ships fast or same-day pickup.
H&M
hm.com — Affordable and good tropical resort options. Easy returns.
Order Timeline for June 6th Wedding:
  • · Shein and international sites: Order by May 1st — earlier is better
  • · Amazon Prime: Order by May 20th for most items
  • · Local stores (Target, H&M): No later than May 25th
  • · Shoes: Order early — sizing issues are common and exchanges take time
Dress code reminder: Men must pack minimum 2 pairs of dress trousers and 2 pairs of closed-toe dress shoes. Leather sandals are great for Beach Casual restaurants but do not replace closed-toe shoes. See the Dress Code section for full details.
Cocktails, nightlife & hidden gems

Bars & Nightlife

Eleven bars on property, all included. From a cenote you wade through to reach a hidden bar, to a retro arcade that'll have you there for hours, to a rooftop perched over the Caribbean. Every drink is covered.

Cenote Wet Bar Casa Sol
⭐ Lance's #1 Pick
Cenote Wet Bar — Casa Sol
Hidden Cenote Bar · Walk Through Water · Underground Archway
This is the one Lance won't stop talking about — and once you find it, you'll understand why. In the 2025 expansion, Casa Sol features a stunning cenote-style pool with a natural rock archway. You wade through the water, pass under the archway, and emerge at a bar built into the rock interior at the back. It feels like discovering a secret. The atmosphere is unlike anything else at the resort, and the cocktails are exceptional.
💡 Ask staff for directions to "the cenote bar in Casa Sol" — they'll point you right.
DéCadas Las Maquinitas arcade bar
⭐ Cherie & Lance Love This
Las Maquinitas
Retro Arcade Bar · 1970s–2000s Nostalgia · All Ages
The most universally loved spot on the entire property — for every single age, taste, and personality. Classic and modern arcade games, pinball machines, billiards, foosball, air hockey, and jet pong, all packed into a retro-themed entertainment lounge celebrating Mexican pop culture from the 70s through 2000s. Located in Casa Vida. Drinks flowing, games going, and the kind of fun that shows up in every group at every age. Lance and Cherie will be there. Find them.
💡 Go after dinner — it gets livelier as the night goes on.
Cantina Los Faroles at night
⭐ Cherie's Favorite
Cantina Los Faroles
Late Night Bar · Live Music · Open Until 2AM
The social headquarters of the resort after dark. Cherie's favorite for the spectacular color-changing light show at night — the lights shift and pulse to music in a way that takes your breath away. Don't miss it after dark. Every night has live music, mezcal and tequila flights, and a rotating cast of performers keeping the energy going. Adults-only on the upper floor after hours. When things get going here around 10PM, they really get going. Late snack menu runs until 2:00 AM.
💡 The mezcal selection here is exceptional. Ask the bartender for their top recommendation — they take real pride in it.
Casa Fuego Rooftop Bar and Glass Pool
Casa Fuego Guests Only
Casa Fuego Rooftop Bar
Rooftop · Crystal Glass Pool · Panoramic Ocean Views
The most Instagrammed spot in the entire Riviera Maya — the iconic crystal-lane glass pool on the Casa Fuego rooftop, suspended over the resort with unobstructed Caribbean views. Available to Casa Fuego guests and La Casa de la Playa guests. If you're staying in Casa Fuego, make this a ritual every evening. The sunset from this pool is genuinely life-altering.
💡 If you're not in Casa Fuego — ask the concierge if day access is available during your stay.
Xupes Nightclub
Xupes Nightclub + Pava Jarla
Adults-Only Nightclub · DJ · Late Night Tacos
The resort's dedicated adults-only nightclub in Casa Cielo — DJ music, lounge areas, and full late-night energy. When you're done dancing, walk next door to Pava Jarla — a taco stand built specifically to close out the night deliciously. This is the combination you didn't know you needed.
💡 Xupes opens late and stays open late. Save it for 10PM or after.
La Bodega / Cantina Bar
Mezcalería & Tequilería · Mexican Spirits
Mexican spirits are the star here — a curated mezcal and tequila bar with spirits that honor the traditions behind them. Live Mexican folk music accompanies the evening. Perfect for those who want to go deep into Mexico's agave culture with guidance from expert bartenders who genuinely love what they're serving.
Hotel Lobby Bar
Hotel Bar & Lobby Bar
Lobby Level · Jazz & Rock Happenings
The sophisticated anchor of the resort. Jazz and rock performances in English several nights a week. The perfect place to start or end your day in style. More refined atmosphere than the pool bars — great for a quiet nightcap or an afternoon aperitivo.
Bar Las Playas
Beachfront Bar · Caribbean Views
A laid-back beachfront bar steps from the sand with sweeping Caribbean views. Perfect for afternoon cocktails while watching the waves.
Bar Playón Espiral
Poolside Bar · Casa Espiral
The poolside bar at Casa Espiral's diamond-shaped infinity pool. Swim-up service available during pool hours.
Bar Bio
Cave Bar · Natural Setting
Located near the Bio restaurant inside the natural caves. A unique setting for a drink surrounded by rock formations and filtered light.
Sports Bar
Sports Viewing · Casual
Catch live sports on big screens with cold drinks and casual bar snacks. A great spot to unwind when you want something familiar.
Pool Bar Central
Swim-Up Bar · Central Pool
The main swim-up bar at the resort's central pool area. Swim right up without leaving the water for Caribbean cocktails and cold drinks.
Bar Playón Viento

Bar Palapa Fuego
Beach Bar · Casa Fuego
An oceanfront palapa bar exclusive to Casa Fuego area. Toes in the sand, drink in hand, Caribbean at eye level.
Xin-Gao Bar
Asian-Inspired Cocktails
Adjacent to the Xin-Gao restaurant, this bar specializes in Asian-inspired cocktails and sake selections. Great for a pre-dinner drink.
Trajinera Bar
Swim-Up Bar · Pool Area
The swim-up bar attached to La Trajinera restaurant and pool area. Caribbean cocktails served while you float.
All-Fun Inclusive™ — Unlimited Access & Transportation

The Parks

Your stay includes unlimited access to seven world-class Xcaret parks plus ferry trips to Isla Mujeres and Cozumel. Shuttle service from the motor lobby runs every 20–30 minutes to the nearby parks. All included — just show up with your bracelet.

👟 Important — Footwear for Parks & Excursions

A few things to know before you head out:

Zip-lining requires closed-toe shoes — you will not be permitted on any zip-line without them. This applies to Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xenotes, and any other zip-line activity. Make sure at least one pair of your closed-toe shoes is comfortable enough for adventure activities.

Water shoes are strongly recommended for any park or excursion involving water — underground rivers, cenotes, cave swimming, and snorkeling. They protect your feet on rocky surfaces and can get completely wet without any problem. A good pair costs $10–20 at Walmart, Amazon, or any sporting goods store. Look for ones with a solid rubber sole so you can walk comfortably on uneven terrain. Totally worth it and very easy to pack.

Cherie & Lance's Favorites

These are the places we'd stake our names on. Do not leave the resort without hitting every single one.

Lance's Picks

Personal favorites — verified by experience
🏊

The Cenote Bar — Casa Sol

Walk through the water, pass under the natural rock archway, and find yourself at a bar built into the cave at the back. Feels like discovering a secret. The atmosphere is completely unique — nothing else at the resort compares. This is the one Lance will ask you about at the reception — "did you find it?" Find it.

🍽

Mercado de la Merced

The ultimate food playground. Hand-made tortillas, every Mexican dish you can imagine, fresh cheese cart, the candy and sweets wall, rotating gelato, and the kind of sensory experience that makes you realize how extraordinary Mexican food really is. Lance eats here multiple times per day and still finds something new. Don't rush through it.

🕹

Las Maquinitas Arcade Bar

A retro arcade bar celebrating Mexican pop culture from the 70s through 2000s — pinball, billiards, air hockey, foosball, and classic games in a nostalgia-filled setting. Worth visiting even if you're not a gamer — the atmosphere, music, and energy make it one of the most universally loved spots on the entire property. Every age, every personality.

Cherie's Picks

Personal favorites — seek every single one out
🎬

Xinema — Cinema Restaurant

You don't have to be a movie person to love Xinema — the Mexican-style street food carts and snack experience are what make it so much fun. Popcorn, creative bites curated by a Michelin-starred chef, plus one of the water slides passes through a glass ceiling directly above you. The atmosphere is completely unique.

🌊

Xcaret Park Underground River

Float through ancient Mayan underground cave systems with a life jacket — stalactites overhead, emerald water below, three different route options. Cherie absolutely loved this experience and can't recommend it enough. Life jackets required. Intermediate exits available if needed. Go early in the day when the light filters in through the cave openings.

Cantina Los Faroles — The Light Show

The color-changing light show at Cantina Los Faroles after dark is something Cherie won't stop talking about. The lights shift and pulse to music in a breathtaking display. Stay late, get a mezcal, and watch the whole thing. It's unlike anything else at this resort.

🕹

Las Maquinitas Arcade Bar — Endorsed

Cherie loves it just as much. Every age, every personality. There is no one who doesn't have fun here. See Lance's description above and double it.

Wellness & Renewal

Muluk Spa

The only spa in the world located inside natural caves — carved into the living rock of the Riviera Maya jungle. This is not a hotel amenity. This is an experience.

Muluk Spa relaxation area with river views

Located in Casa Agua — itself the most serene and adult-oriented section of the resort — Muluk Spa is a Mayan oasis where ancient ritual meets modern technique. Natural rock caves with glowing illuminated passageways connect all the treatment rooms. Plunge pools built into cavernous spaces. A relaxation lounge with tea station overlooking the pristine emerald river below.

The name "Muluk" refers to a Mayan calendar sign associated with water and cosmic renewal — fitting for a spa that uses water as the central element throughout. Rooms in Casa Agua come with volcanic stone tubs on the terraces and a sauna in the bathroom, extending the spa experience into your suite.

Treatments are not included in your stay but are available as add-ons. Book as far in advance as possible — treatment slots fill fast, especially for peak evenings.

Cash & Gratuity Guide

Tipping & Cash

The resort is all-inclusive, but the staff who make your experience extraordinary genuinely appreciate gratuity. It's not mandatory — but it is deeply appreciated in Mexico, and it absolutely comes back to you in the form of legendary, personal service all week long.

Restaurant Servers
$2–5
Per person per meal. $5 for outstanding service at the nicer restaurants.
Bartenders
$1–2
Per round. They remember you — and it shows all week.
Housekeeping
$2–5
Per day, left on the bed or dresser. Daily service here is exceptional.
Bellhops
$1–2
Per bag when they assist with luggage to your room.
Pool Attendants
$1–2
When they set up chairs or bring drinks to your lounge.
Spa Therapists
$5–10
Per treatment. Tip separately from the service charge.
Park Tour Guides
$5–10
Per person for guided tours like Xcaret Park tours or Xenotes.
Total Budget
$150+
$150–200 USD in $1s and $5s covers a standard stay generously.
Recommended Bill Breakdown
Bring mostly $1 bills — they go a long way and are more practical than all $5s. Recommended: ~$100 in $1 bills and ~$50 in $5 bills. $1 bills are perfect for bartenders, pool attendants, and housekeeping. $5 bills are better for servers at nicer restaurants and spa therapists.

💵 Before You Fly: Stop at your bank and withdraw $150–200 USD in small bills — specifically $1 bills and $5 bills. Your bank is the cheapest place to get these. Do not count on ATMs near the resort or airport exchange desks for a good rate. Your digital bracelet handles all resort charges, so cash is only needed for tips and off-property purchases. Keep it in your room safe when not in use. This is the single most impactful thing you can do to ensure a magical week.

Do this before you land

Critical Checklist

A few actions that separate an amazing trip from a legendary one. Take 20 minutes now and your entire week is better because of it.

1

Save Kristen's Contact Information — Your Travel Agent

Kristen Buckshire at Travel Ease LLC is your first call for everything. Save her info now: Office: 859-486-5124 · Mobile: 239-413-4085 · Email: [email protected]. She will be reaching out 45 to 60 days before arrival — but don't wait. Reach out now to confirm reservations and start coordinating restaurant bookings.

2

Book HA' Restaurant Right Now (If You Want This Experience)

Chef Carlos Gaytán's Michelin Star restaurant requires advance reservation with full prepayment. Tables fill 3–6 weeks out. ~$149/person. Book exclusively through Kristen to keep things simple — she handles all HA’ reservations. Do not wait.

3

Review All Restaurants Requiring Reservations — Book Early

Several restaurants require advance reservations and fill up fast. Review the Dining Guide, identify every restaurant marked Reservations Required or Recommended, and get them booked as soon as possible. Kristen is your go-to for all of this — reach out to her directly to coordinate. Even restaurants marked “Reservations Recommended” should be treated as required — these restaurants fill up and missing out is a real risk. Don’t skip making a reservation just because it says Recommended.

4

Download the Xcaret App

Interactive resort map, park schedules, restaurant reservations, weekly entertainment calendar. Essential for navigation on a property this size. Download before you fly.

5

Book Any Parks and Experiences in Advance

Several parks and experiences sell out fast — including Xenotes, Xoximilco, and Xplor Fuego at night. Book anything you know you want to do as early as possible. Contact Kristen to get everything booked.

6

Pack Your Dress Code Wardrobe

Men: minimum 2 pairs of dress trousers + 2 pairs of closed-toe shoes. Non-negotiable for 5+ restaurants. Women: resort evening wear for 3–4 nights minimum. See the Dress Code section.

7

Withdraw $150–200 USD in Small Bills

$1 and $5 bills from your bank before you leave. Only needed for tipping — your bracelet covers everything else. This is the move that gets you great service all week. Recommended breakdown: ~$100 in $1 bills and ~$50 in $5 bills. See the Tipping section above for details on when to use each.

8

Know Check-In / Check-Out Times

Check-in: 3:00 PM. Check-out: 12:00 PM. Early check-in (1PM) and late check-out (2PM) available for a fee, subject to availability. If you arrive early, the resort holds your luggage while you enjoy full facility access — your bracelet is activated at check-in.

Special considerations for our guests

Dietary Notes

A heads up for anyone who needs it — both needs are handled very well at this resort, but here's what to know.

🥛 Lactose Intolerance

Bio and Las Playas are the strongest options for lactose intolerance. Bio is 100% vegan/plant-based and entirely dairy-free. Las Playas has excellent dairy-free options across the menu. Cantina Los Faroles also accommodates well. Always alert your server at the start of the meal — staff are well-trained in dietary restrictions and will advise on safe options. The Mercado de la Merced also has plenty of naturally dairy-free dishes clearly labeled.

🌾 Celiac Disease (Gluten-Free)

If you have celiac disease, not just a gluten-free preference — Bio and Las Playas are the strongest dedicated options for celiac-safe dining. Traditional Mexican cuisine is naturally corn-forward, making many dishes naturally gluten-free. At every restaurant, specifically use the word "celiac" or "enfermedad celíaca" — not just "gluten-free" — these kitchens are sophisticated and take celiac seriously when they understand the severity. Ask for the celiac-safe options at each restaurant before ordering.
